I usually find that people who come to see me for a running/sporting injury are motivated to do so because they’re preparing an upcoming event. In other words, they have a goal that they wish to achieve at a particular time. The goal that the individual has may or may not be achievable - although most often I find that it is. The key is therefore not just treating the injury, but to tailor the treatment to the individuals circumstances. Sometimes treatment is on the more aggressive end of the spectrum (for example, if they are preparing for a grand final), and on other occasions treatment may be more conservative.
Having treated Olympic gold medalist track and field athletes, and professional sports people from football, motorsport, rugby and basketball, I understand what its like to prepare for all levels of sporting competition.
